Ted Chiang is an American writer, born in Port Jefferson, New York on October 20, 1967. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Brown University, and has worked as a technical writer in the software industry.
Chiang is most well-known for his science fiction short stories, which have won numerous awards, including four Nebula Awards, four Hugo Awards, a Bradbury Award, a Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, and a British Science Fiction Association Award.
His work often explores complex philosophical themes, and he is known for his meticulous attention to scientific detail. Chiang's collection of stories, "Stories of Your Life and Others," which includes the award-winning "Story of Your Life," was adapted into the critically acclaimed film "Arrival" in 2016.
